Welcome Letter

Welcome Kindergartners and parents!

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome to the wonderful world of kindergarten!  I look forward to meeting each of you at the Ice Cream Social Thursday, August 18th.  We have much to learn this year and it will take the effort of us all, teacher, students, and parents, to achieve our goals.

Your help in filling our classroom needs list is vital in helping our classroom run smoothly. You are welcome to bring the following things in at the ice cream social, the first day of school, or a little at a time--but please know that your contributions are valued and important in helping facilitate your child's needs and education.

Please do NOT send personal material items for just your student to use.  All materials will be provided for your child from what you bring.

The Student Information Sheet is for my classroom use only.  The information you provide will help me reach you right away if there are any problems, and better facilitate your child's smooth transition into school life. You can return this at the Ice Cream Social or the first day of school.  If any information changes, you can e-mail us or send a note in your student's homework folder requesting a new form.

The first day of school, please come into the classroom to sort out materials and help your child find his or her seat and hang up the backpack.  You are welcome to take pictures.  Students can play outside until the 7:55 bell.  When class starts I must ask that goodbyes and assurances be said for the day and the students left to begin their new Kindergarten adventure.  We work hard, so please expect your child to be unusually tired the first couple of weeks--this is normal.

I have a Volunteer Sign-Ups form parents (and grandparents) can fill out and return to help out in or out of the classroom.  After the first few weeks, when the students settle into the routine, I will be looking for parents to come in on a regular basis to help with various tasks.

My Parent Handbook will give you more information about how I run the class, my expectations, and an overview of what it takes to succeed in Kindergarten.

I am really looking forward to this upcoming school year with all of you.  Thank you for the time you have put in preparing your child for this adventure.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wingo
