Hello
again and welcome to the start of the ninth year of operation at Ridgecrest Charter School. We are very
pleased to see many returning faces as well as 100 new ones.We had a wonderful turn out at our Ice Cream
Social and thanks to all of you that came out to support your child and the school. For those of you who
were unable to attend, I will share with you some of the changes that we are implementing to make this year even more successful.
We
are very pleased to say that we had new carpet installed in all portables.
We are continuing our tradition of Saturday
work days for parents to volunteer at the school. This year we will be assigning a particular Saturday
to a grade level so that each grade has one Saturday per year.Of course you are always welcome to come
and help on other Saturdays, but please mark your calendar for the month of your child’s grade level (if you have more
than one child, we hope to see you more often). We plan to have the teachers out taking digital photos
for the yearbook and would like to have hot dogs and drinks for all of our volunteers.
We will be offering after school
tutoring again this year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:00 tutoring will be based on teacher recommendation. We want to keep the groups small to provide students with more individualized attention, so teachers will let you know
if your child would benefit from the after school tutoring.
We are also pleased to announce that we will be offering after school
clubs on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:00.We are waiting for all of the parent surveys to come in and then we
will send out a list of clubs. We encourage parent participation and would like for the clubs to be driven
by parents, with teachers having overall supervision. Finally, I want to encourage parents to take advantage of Digital technology
by making use of email whenever possible. It is an easy way to communicate with teachers and staff that
allows us to respond during our free time without playing phone tag. Please also check out our website
at www.ridgecrestcharterschool.org frequently and consistently for updates on events and activities taking place at the school. There are links to teacher websites that will provide information about homework, class policies and procedures, and
photos (without student names) of your child engaging in school activities. The more we can provide information
digitally, the more time, energy, and trees we save in the process. We also want
to thank all of the parents who donated basketballs, wall balls, paper, and other supplies for their classes! Without strong
parent support, students would really feel the budget cuts that all schools are facing. Thanks!! RCS
